Beatitude is defined as a state of supreme happiness and bliss, particularly in a spiritual and moral context. The word is derived from the Latin word "beatus", which means blessed. Beatitudes are often seen as a set of teachings or blessings given by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, where he describes the qualities of those who are blessed by God and will be rewarded in the afterlife. The eight Beatitudes include such virtues as humility, meekness, mercy, peacemaking, and righteousness. The concept of beatitude is also prevalent in other religious and philosophical traditions, such as Buddhism and Stoicism, where it is associated with inner peace, contentment, and a sense of transcendental purpose.
